God Helps Those Who Help Themselves

It is well said that God gives every bird its food, ,but, He does not throw it into the nest.

We need to trust the Lord but at the same time we should not forget to lock our vehicles.

Who to get even with?

Normally we never forget the ones who do us harm and we try to get even with them as soon as we get an opportunity to do so.

But in fact the people we need  to get even with should be the ones who do us good.

we need to learn to live in gratitude.

"It All Depends How we Take Our Tasks"

Every evening I have to get in both my wife's and my cars into the garage.  There are two moods in which I can do so. One is to grumble over it and the other is to feel grateful.  The choice is purely mine.

I can grumble over the task that under all circumstances and weather conditions I have to come out of the comforts of the house to do the needful. On the other hand I can thank my stars for being blessed to have the opportunity of possessing two cars which I have to park.  In the first case I shall be filled with stress and anger. In the second case being in the thankful mode I shall feel humble and happy. The choice is mine to get into whichever mood I want to.

So it is with all the other tasks that we perform. If we take them as burden we shall always grumble and remain in anger and if we take them as an opportunity to serve and feel blessed we shall remain happy and pretty much relaxed.

"Bounce Back"

One of the advertisements being shown now-a-days on TV channels which needs to be appreciated is that of HDFC's Life Insurance - "Bounce Back".

The ad shows a girl of Class IV or V in her school uniform being driven to or from the school by her father.  Father has been shown as sensible and concerned. He is able to read his daughter's mind and when he realizes that she is depressed due to her bad performance he stops his car near the site of his failed venture of the past and tells her "See this is the site of my past venture which inspite of my best efforts I couldn't manage to save, but still I bounced back.  So you needn't worry about your failures "Bounce Back". With these words a beautiful smile returns on his daughter's face.

This advertisement will surely help various students who at times do not perform well in their exams.  They will surely get encouraged to do well in life.

How to Dress up and Carry yourself well

“ How to dress up and carry yourself well”

Dressing appropriately and carrying ourselves well is both good and necessary for both men and women.
I’m not a connoisseur of dressing but at least I have learnt in all these years that I have lived (more than 5 decades now) that dressing appropriately and carrying ourselves well is important in our lives.

Few of the essential elements that we need to adhere to for dressing appropriately well are :
·       Our dress should fit us well. They should be neither too large nor too small for our size.
·       Colour and design of our dress should be befitting to the place and occasion we are going to.
·       Our dress should be neat and well ironed.
·       Our dress should be age appropriate.
·       We may have less number of dresses for ourselves but under no circumstances the quality of the clothes should be compromised.
·       Foot wear is also part of dressing well. Hence care should be taken to wear appropriate footwear which should be a decent and comfortable one.
·       School students should take pride in wearing their uniforms.

Men need to know the following:-
·       Sports shoes do not fall under ‘formal’ wear so the same should be avoided by all means when they go to their work place unless your job is related to sports.
·       One can’t wear a suit with sports shoes.
·       It is compulsory to wear formal shoes along with suits. Otherwise it will be considered inappropriate wear by those who understand what ‘dressing’ means.
·       Never go to your work place in slippers/sandals.
·        T-shirts how-so-ever good they may be come under informal wear.
·       It is always better if out of trousers and the shirt one is light in colour and the other dark.
·       If you are wearing a full sleeve shirt to your work place as a formal wear never roll back your sleeves.
·       Always ensure that your sleeves are buttoned at work place.
·       The shirt should always be tekked into the trousers at the work place.
·       Always carry a fresh, neat and clean handkerchief in your pocket.
·       Keep the handkerchief in front of your nose if you have to sneeze. This will reflect your good upbringing.

It will not be inappropriate to say that the dressing for men is merely essential but for a woman it is ornamental in nature.
Dresses of woman are of for more variety and colours than those of men.
Women look good and more beautiful when they wear their dresses which are suiting their body structure and are age appropriate.
Women may wear sarees, salwar kameez and even western apparels to their work place for all of them can be clubbed under formal wear provided they are appropriate and elegant. Women of sense should be able to recognise the thin line that differentiate between formal and informal wears for all these three apparels i.e. sarees, slawar kameez and western clothes.
