Recently I came across Sudha Murty's book Wise and Otherwise. It is a collection of 50 short stories or you can say recollections. I have gone through 40 of them. For the past couple of months have been more into reading some or other managerial or spritiual based books. So this was a nice change. I got to know how people try to take advantage of charitable trusts in a wrong way. At the same time the experiece shared through this book Sudha mam is also helping the people to become SELF DEPENEDEND. I was so touched with the story of Sheikh and the courage of his sister Zubheida in the story Salaam Namaste that tears had rolled down while I had read it on my bed last night. This morning I read it out in the morning assembly. It was really difficult for me to go through certain lines like when Sheikh had pocketed the sweets for Ameena and Tabussam instead of eating them; When he tells Sudha about having sold his wife's and sister's jewellery and taking a loan from the bank for his sister's treatment and telling her that he didn't seek her help because there are others who need that help more than him; when Tabussam pockets a buiscuit for Ameena; When she conveys her Amma's salaam to Sudha; when Sheikh gives the packet containing Rs 3000/-; When Sudha returns the packet to him for Tabussam and finally it was really chocking for me to complete the last lines where Sudha says to Sheikh to always tell Tabussm about her mother, "Our earth is enriched by people like Zubbeida.'...... "One day she would understand her mother and probably emulate her."I can only say that just like Zubbeida people like Sudha Murty have also enriched our earth. She is able to reach out to thousands who she is helping monetarily but through her book Wise and Otherwise the enrichment she has offered to the seekers is equally immesearable and shall be reaching out to millions of people.
Keep it up Sudha Mam. We are proud of you!!
I am younger to you but still would say "God Bless You! for God surely listens to all equally.
She is an angel! "Humane" is a word which epitomises her in real sense.
